neo-blythe is a 29cm tall fashion doll and her head is like a grapefruit.

Also referred to as BL Blythes, the very first generation of Blythes uses the Excellent face mold, but the Kenner replica body, also known as the Excellent body, was not yet ready. Because Takara already manufactured Licca dolls of roughly the same size, the first releases came on the already available Licca bodies. Licca bodies have bendable limbs; the arms hang straight down and the legs are slimmer than the Blythe body. The feet are slightly larger than those on the Excellent body. BL Blythes have very thin eyelashes compared to recent releases. The gaze of BL Blythes is a bit higher than the others. All except Aztec Arrival Inspired, Sunday Best, and Dottie Dot have boggled eyes.

The Excellent face mold is the same as the one used with the Licca body, but the Excellent body was introduced in 2002. This body was made in the style of the original Kenners. The EBL Blythes have very sparse eyelashes and round faces.

Superior Blythe, or SBL, was introduced in 2003. The Superior face mold has smaller eyes than the other face molds, which makes them look a bit more mature, sometimes even snooty. Their heads are slightly longer than EBLs, which makes them slightly taller. The introduction of the Superior mold also came with fuller lashes.

Radiance Blythe, or RBL, was introduced in 2006.

Fairest Blythe, or FBL, was introduced in 2009.

Radiance + Blythe, or RBL+, was introduced in 2013.

The Radiance Renew face mold was introduced in 2017 and is the final face mold used by Takara.

The Radiance Evolution face mold was introduced as the first face mold used by Good Smile Company in 2022.
